Commenting On Racket

Hello there, Racket commenters! It’s great to have you with us.

Before we get into it, maybe you’re wondering, how do I comment on this here website? The answer may surprise you! It’s by supporting Racket at any subscription level, which you can sign up to do here. If you are not a Racket subscriber, we encourage you to share your opinions using the world’s commenting platform: twitter dot com.

If you have chosen to support us financially, we thank you immensely for your money and look forward to reading your funny/interesting/thought-provoking insights on our website. Below, you’ll find some polite suggestions (and a few hard rules) for commenting on racketmn.com.

What kinds of comments are encouraged?

We’re so glad you asked! We encourage readers to submit comments that are smart and funny, but comments that are smart and serious or dumb and funny are also welcome. They should probably have something to do with the story you’re commenting on, or at least shouldn’t make it obvious that you haven’t read the story.

What can I absolutely not do in the comments?

Look, you’re an adult. You know how you’re supposed to behave in the comments. But we’ll spell it out for you. The following is expressly banned…

Anything bigoted or hateful. We shouldn’t have to say this, but we do, because it’s the internet and for whatever reason the internet gives mean little trolls a lot of leeway with their bigoted and hateful speech. Not here. Anything Racket staffers deem inappropriate will be taken down and the commenter will be banned.

Spam, promotional, or commercial posts. We’ll delete ‘em!

Being a general annoyance to other commenters or Racket staff. Do we show up at your job to tell you how much you suck or that we hate you or that you were way better at insurance adjusting or whatever five years ago but you’ve really fallen off? We don’t. We expect the same decency from you when you’re engaging with our work, in our workplace.

Informed debate: good. Discussion: encouraged. Disagreements: inevitable! Attacks based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or anything else: forbidden. Harassing of Racket’s writers and commenters: absolutely a no-go.

We reserve the right to remove any comments we find to be in violation of these standards at our discretion and without explanation. To report abuse or for questions regarding this policy, email moderator@racketmn.com.
